Thyristor power control panels

We design and build thyristor power control panels for precise power control in furnaces, heaters and thermal processes. With phase-angle and zero-crossing control, RS485 Modbus RTU communication and current up to 600 A per channel, we size the panel to your process. Sales and quotes from Ankara-based AOM, nationwide across Turkey.

  • Proportional power up to 600 A per channel
  • 4–10 channels per panel, up to 132 channels from a single unit
  • Phase-angle and zero-crossing cycle control, RMS feedback
  • Monitoring and adjustment from PLC/SCADA via RS485 Modbus RTU
  • At least 40%+ energy savings measured in AOM projects*

* The lowest savings measured in AOM projects is 40%; the exact figure varies by process, heater type and existing control method.

What we do

Thyristor power control panel design and manufacturing

Proportional power up to 600 A per channel; 4–10 channels per panel, up to 132 channels total from a single unit. Thyristor protection with semiconductor fuses, fan cooling, digital display.

Choosing the control method

Phase-angle control for heaters with low thermal mass and sudden current draw; zero-crossing cycle control for lower harmonics/EMI in high-thermal-mass furnaces and molds.

Closed-loop PID integration

Closed loop with a thermocouple/PT100 temperature sensor, a PID controller or PLC, and the thyristor unit's RMS feedback: deviations are corrected instantly and the setpoint is held.

PLC/SCADA integration

Current, voltage and power of every channel are read into a PLC or SCADA via RS485 Modbus RTU; consumption is monitored per line.

Converting existing systems to thyristor control

We convert contactor on/off control or electric hot-oil heating systems to be driven by an AOM thyristor panel; temperature is more stable and heating elements last longer.

Working in the field, not just on paper

The thyristor power control panels AOM designs and manufactures are in service in one of the defense industry's most demanding thermal processes: curing composite parts in an autoclave.

Frequently asked questions

What does thyristor control gain over contactor control?

With contactor on/off control the heater runs at full power, overshoots the setpoint, switches off and waits to cool; thyristor control adjusts power continuously and proportionally between 0–100%. The lowest energy saving measured in AOM projects is 40%; the exact figure depends on the process, heater type and existing control method. There's also no wearing contact, so maintenance cost is lower.

Should I choose phase-angle or zero-crossing control?

Phase-angle control suits heaters with low thermal mass and sudden current draw (e.g. infrared lamps); zero-crossing cycle control, which reflects lower harmonics and EMI to the grid, suits high-thermal-mass furnaces and molds. We make the final choice together based on your process.

Can you convert my existing panel to thyristor control?

Yes. We convert your contactor on/off panel or electric hot-oil heating system to be driven by an AOM thyristor panel.

Can I integrate it with my PLC or SCADA system?

Yes. Our panels communicate via RS485 Modbus RTU; you can read the current, voltage and power of each channel from your PLC or SCADA.

Do you also sell Gefran thyristor products?

Yes, AOM is a point of sale and technical support provider for Gefran's thyristor power control product line. You can browse the products in the Gefran power control category in our store.
